Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine
Student Elective Rotation

The fastest growing cohort of the population is those aged 65 and older. To address the needs of this group, PCOM offers a four- week elective rotation in geriatric and palliative medicine for OMS 3 and 4 students. You will work with our team to provide care for older adults throughout the continuum of medical care.

Experiences

Your time will be customized to meet your desired learning objectives, for either predominantly geriatric medicine or palliative medicine. Your schedule may encompass office hours at Suite 317, Rowland Hall on the PCOM campus and patient visits to several local skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), the VNA Hospice Inpatient Palliative Care Unit and inpatient geriatric and palliative care consults at Roxborough Memorial Hospital. An option to accompany providers for homecare visits is available. You will also have the opportunity to observe and interact with the interdisciplinary team at the SNFs and home hospice meetings.
