Brian Mann, EdD, MS, PA-C, has been appointed interim dean of the School of Health Professions and Sciences (SHPS) at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), where he will oversee academic and administrative functions and guide programs and initiatives to further excellence in healthcare education.

In addition to the new role, Mann will continue to serve as chief of Simulation Operations, a position that oversees Simulation Centers and standardized patients across all three PCOM locations.

Based at PCOM Georgia, Mann brings a wide breadth of higher education experience, education leadership, and clinical practice to his new role. Prior to joining PCOM in 2021, he served as director of Simulation Education at Campbell University’s Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine, where he managed daily operations of the simulation center and developed an integrated curriculum for both undergraduate and graduate medical education.

“Dr. Mann’s experience in health care and higher education will be invaluable in advancing the School of Health Professions and Sciences,” said Kenneth Veit, DO ’76, MBA, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at PCOM. “We are thrilled to welcome Brian to this role as we continue our mission of driving innovation and excellence in health sciences education.”

In his clinical career, Mann has worked as a physician assistant at FirstHealth of the Carolinas Convenient Care, Cleveland Clinic, and several other leading hospitals in Northeast Ohio. At these institutions, he was instrumental in pioneering new opportunities for physician assistants.

“I look forward to building upon our strong academic foundation, supporting our excellent faculty, and helping students advance the health and well-being of our communities,” Mann said.

In addition to being a certified physician assistant, Mann earned his doctorate in education from A.T. Still University in Kirksville, Missouri, and his master’s degree in Advanced Physician Assistant Studies from A.T. Still’s location in Mesa, Arizona.

PCOM’s School of Health Professions and Sciences offers degree-granting programs in physician assistant studies, physical therapy, forensic medicine, medical laboratory science, cancer biology, and biomedical sciences.
