Join us on Friday, March 14, 2025, for a special virtual event showcasing the inspiring work of Saron Araya (DO '27), a second-year medical student at PCOM South Georgia, who has been selected for the prestigious Medical Student Scholars for Health Equity
in Myeloma program.
This program, a collaboration between the International Myeloma Foundation and the
W. Montague Cobb/NMA Health Institute's Cobb Scholars Program, pairs minority medical
students with experts to conduct research on health disparities, particularly in multiple
myeloma.
Saron’s research will explore the higher prevalence of multiple myeloma in people
of color, a topic that aligns with her deep passion for serving underserved communities
and addressing cultural and linguistic barriers in health care. Her journey as a first-generation
American and her experiences working with immigrant populations make her an inspiring
example of PCOM South Georgia’s commitment to diversity and health equity.
This event is a great opportunity for prospective medical and graduate students to
learn about PCOM South Georgia’s dedication to promoting diversity in health care,
the unique experiences of students like Saron, and the significant impact of research
in improving health outcomes for marginalized communities. Don’t miss this chance
to hear from a future leader in medicine and explore how PCOM South Georgia is empowering
the next generation of physicians to make a difference.
