Dual Degree Business Programs
PharmD MBA, Certificate and Business Acumen Series
For more than 25 years, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and Saint Joseph’s
University have partnered to offer dual degree opportunities to osteopathic medicine students.
This partnership has been expanded to provide exciting options for PCOM School of Pharmacy students.
APPLY NOW FOR PHARMD PROGRAM
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students now have the option to enhance their credentials with one of three graduate
business programs from Saint Joseph's University. These programs are designed to teach
students to think strategically as healthcare policies and regulations, patient expectations
and compliance considerations continue to evolve.
Courses are offered completely online in order to allow students to earn their degree
with minimal interruption to their personal and professional lives. Courses begin
on the first day of each month and end on the last day unless notice is given otherwise.
Each week of the course consists of required readings, a “live“ virtual session and
online discussions. Final assignments may be quantitative or written depending on
the nature of the course.
PCOM School of Pharmacy students may choose from certificate options or pursue a PharmD
MBA.
Business Acumen Series
Students complete six courses (12 credits) covering fundamental business areas including:
- Leadership and development
- Accounting
- Economics
- Finance
- Marketing
- Data analytics
An emphasis on real-world application will equip students for success in a variety
of career paths.
Advanced Certificate
The Advanced Certificate offers students the opportunity to customize their industry-focused
education by selecting any six courses (12 credits) from the upper-level Pharmaceutical
and Healthcare Marketing MBA curriculum. Specialty topics include:
- Drug/device regulation
- Supply chain management
- Creating effective research and development (R&D)
- Marketing research
- Pharmacoeconomics
- Competitive analysis
- Sales Management
- Pricing
- Strategies for managed care
- Product management
- Global corporate strategy
- Future issues
- Health policy
Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Marketing MBA (PharmD MBA)
Pharmacy students may earn their PharmD MBA (Master of Business Administration) by
completing 20 accelerated, 2-credit courses (40 credits). All courses, except for
the Capstone (which must be completed in person as a 2.5-day residency course), are
delivered completely online. PCOM students and alumni will receive a waiver for two
credits and three courses for transfer credit from PCOM.
