PCOM South Georgia to host GOMA District III Annual Meeting
March 20, 2025
Practicing physicians and residents can learn more about geriatric medicine and network
with other doctors from South Georgia during the Georgia Osteopathic Medicine Association's
District III Annual Meeting on April 1 at PCOM South Georgia in Moultrie.
PCOM South Georgia is part of a multiyear partnership with the Emory University Center under Emory's cooperative agreement with the U.S.
Health Resources and Services Administration for the Geriatric Workforce Expansion
Project. The goal of the project is to improve geriatric care and education for healthcare
workers in Georgia, focusing on underserved and rural areas.
Michael Srulevich, DO, MPH
As part of the HRSA project, PCOM's Michael Srulevich, DO, MPH, will present “Essentials for the Care of Older Adults” during the GOMA Annual Meeting.
Dr. Srulevich is board certified in family medicine with added qualifications in geriatric,
hospice and palliative medicine. He is a professor in the Department of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine at PCOM and is the program director for PCOM's Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program, which is accredited by the American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Dr. Srulevich serves as an associate medical director at Visiting Nurse Association
Hospice of Philadelphia. Additionally, he is the lead physician for palliative medicine
at Roxborough Memorial Hospital, has a clinical practice in PCOM's Specialty Care Clinic on City Avenue in Philadelphia, and provides long-term care to residents at four
Philadelphia nursing homes.
Continuing medical education credit (AMA and AOA) is available for physicians (MDs
and DOs) attending Dr. Srulevich's presentation.
“The purpose of the Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association is to promote public health
while also promoting art, science and philosophy of osteopathic medicine,” said Kristie Petree, DO '13, president of GOMA District III, and associate professor of neuromusculoskeletal and osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) at PCOM South Georgia. “GOMA works as our osteopathic voice in training program quality
and legislative lobbying, giving us the opportunity to make positive changes for our
profession.”
The GOMA District III Annual Meeting will begin on PCOM South Georgia, 2050 Tallokas Road, Moultrie, at 6 p.m. with a Meet and Greet, followed by a GOMA
Business Information Session at 6:30. Dinner and Dr. Srulevich's educational session
will begin at 7.
“We hope to create a networking opportunity for osteopathic physicians, residents,
interns and students who want to support and represent our profession in the state
of Georgia,” Dr. Petree said. “This event will also bring awareness to the critical
issues in Geriatrics and need for Geriatrics specific care while showcasing our PCOM
South Georgia location. We're happy to provide tours of our wonderful facility.”
In 2019, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), a premier osteopathic
medical school established in 1899, extended its commitment to the Southeast by establishing
PCOM South Georgia. An additional teaching location in Moultrie, Georgia, PCOM South Georgia offers both
a full, four-year medical program leading to the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
