With nearly 200 people in attendance on Oct. 19, “A Night to Ignite” celebrated PCOM South Georgia's many generous community members who have supported the campus since before it was built.

“The generosity of Southwest Georgia, and the Moultrie community in particular, is a wonderful and visible testament to the support for this campus.” Deidre Martin, EdD, gift officer for PCOM South Georgia, said. “We are very thankful for all those who served as sponsors or attended the event. Their investment in scholarships for students from this region will yield results for years to come as PCOM South Georgia educates the next generation of healthcare leaders.”

A committee of community leaders and PCOM employees planned the event, which included a cocktail hour, followed by a catered dinner and dancing. Colquitt Regional Medical Foundation served as the Title Sponsor.

The fundraising event raised $250,000 for scholarships for Southwest Georgia students attending PCOM South Georgia.

Ignite Awards were presented to Jim and Jill Matney, as well as Jeter Partners LLC, which is owned by brothers Jimmy Jeter and Dan Jeter. The awards recognized those whose generosity, commitment, and passion for PCOM South Georgia have substantially impacted the institution.

An online silent auction featured items generously donated by members of the local community and raised $11,000.

All proceeds from the event, including ticket sales, sponsorships and the silent auction, totaled $250,000 to establish an endowment for scholarships that will be awarded to PCOM South Georgia students from Southwest Georgia. Contributions to the new scholarship endowment can continue to be made by contacting Dr. Martin at deidrema@pcom.edu or 803-522-0422.

“A Night to Ignite” Celebration was part of PCOM's comprehensive fundraising campaign, United & Ignited. Next year, another celebration will be held in Gwinnett County, Georgia, to support PCOM Georgia. To learn more about United & Ignited, visit campaign.pcom.edu.
