Innovation at PCOM

PCOM supports the development of novel drugs, devices and diagnostics through its intramural funding program, research support staff, state-of-the-art equipment and core facilities. Acceleration of technology development occurs with extramural funding from the NIH, NSF, foundations and private donors. Faculty startup companies hold patented technologies for the prevention of ischemia/reperfusion injury, degradation of the extracellular matrix in osteoarthritis and periodontitis, and COVID-19. PCOM faculty also are co-inventors on patents describing methods for targeting cells involved in wound healing and fibrosis, increasing muscle strength, and extending drug delivery.
