Emergency Medicine. I love the team work, daily procedures, variety in clinical cases, caring for individuals from underserved communities, educating people and fostering environments that help save lives.
I was ecstatic. The feeling is surreal and one that I cannot fully explain.
My curiosity in medicine grew as I accompanied my oldest sister on numerous trips to the emergency department to treat my nephew’s Sickle Cell Anemia. I was intrigued by the patient-physician relationship. I found that relationship to be sacred as it involves one person entrusting their life and care to another's.
Always remember that you belong here, and that you have earned your seat at the table. The journey will be challenging, and it is important to lean on your support system. Celebrate every milestone along the way of your medical school journey.
