Logan Allee (DO ’22)
Match Day 2022
March 17, 2022Students from the class of 2022 are celebrating the next step in their professional
journey. Here they share what has inspired them along the way and what advice they
would give to new students.
Where did you match?
Larkin Community Hospital Ophthalmology Residency, Miami, Florida
What specialty have you chosen to pursue and why?
I have chosen to pursue ophthalmology. Before medical school, I worked as a scribe
at Thomas Eye Group in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Here is where I was first exposed to
ophthalmology. That being said, it is safe to say ophthalmology was on my mind before
I started medical school; however, it was my interactions with my third year preceptors
on my ophthalmology rotation that solidified this decision. I love the gratification
that comes from improving a patient’s life by improving or even saving their sight.
How did you feel when you found out you matched?
I was elated! It honestly felt like a dream come true. I knew that everything I had
worked for in medical school boiled down to that moment, so it is safe to say that
I was also definitely relieved when I saw I matched!
What advice would you give to year one medical students just starting their journey?
When things get hard (and they will), try to think about the long game. Imagine yourself
as a fourth year student who is getting ready to open their match email and let that
help drive you to keep pushing!
Is there anything else you would like to share?
These four years really do go by so fast. Soak up everything you can, listen to the
faculty and your preceptors, and enjoy the time you have with your classmates. Some
of these people will become your very best friends.
