PCOM Celebrates 99.5 Percent Match Rate
May 22, 2020PCOM's Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Class of 2020 achieved a 99.5 percent match rate in the National Resident Matching
Program (NRMP) Match. These students will go on to serve in healthcare systems across
the country in a variety of specialties including family medicine, internal medicine,
emergency medicine and pediatrics. The 2020 NRMP Match marked the first time osteopathic
medicine students matched alongside their allopathic (MD) peers in a combined match. PCOM
students were among the 90.7 percent of DO students nationwide that matched into residency
programs in 38 specialties, according to the American Osteopathic Association.
The NRMP is a private, non-profit organization that matches healthcare professionals to training
programs through the use of a computerized mathematical algorithm designed to align
applicant preferences with those of program directors. More than 40,000 applicants
participated in the 2020 Main Residency Match.
