Fiancee Williams, MS/Biomed '22
Forensic Biology Concentration
August 4, 2022
“PCOM South Georgia started a new chapter in my life,” said Fiancee Williams.
And while that chapter is coming to a close with her completion of a biomedical sciences degree with a forensic biology concentration, Williams is looking forward to future opportunities.
A first-generation college graduate from Montgomery, Alabama, Williams said she looks
forward to providing proper assistance to future patients who tend to be turned away
due to biased opinions.
“Not only do I feel accomplished, but I feel ecstatic that I’m able to help the younger
people in my family make it just as far as I did—or even further,” said Williams of
becoming the first person in her family to complete graduate school.
She knew that by applying to and completing the biomedical sciences degree, she would
become better prepared for her future in health care.
“I applied to the graduate program because I felt like I wasn’t prepared to take the
MCAT,” she said. “I knew that everything I was going to learn within this program
would help prepare me for the next steps in my career. I am more knowledgeable now
than I was when I began the program two years ago!”
Williams is interested in pathology and is grateful that the graduate program at PCOM
South Georgia introduced her to the specialty and provided experience in that area.
Edward Shaw, PhD, director of the biomedical sciences program, said, “From the outset, Fiancee indicated
a keen interest in forensic medicine and pathology, and it is exciting that she could pursue those interests through the
forensic biology concentration. The opportunity to watch as Fiancee grew into her
potential as an excellent student in a rigorous program has been a pleasure. Her professionalism,
strength and work ethic will allow her to succeed in whatever opportunities arise.”
