PCOM Announces Founders' Day 2025 Honorees

Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) has announced that the late Paul W. McGloin, CPA, LLD (Hon.), and Paul Lapoint, DO ’90, are this year’s recipients of the O.J. Snyder Memorial Medal and the Alumni Association Certificate of Honor, respectively.

Mr. McGloin and Dr. Lapoint will be honored at the College’s Founders’ Day ceremony on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue. There will be a coffee reception before the ceremony starting at 10 a.m., and all members of the PCOM community are welcome to attend.

O. J. Snyder Memorial Medal Recipient

Paul W. McGloin, CPA, LLD (Hon.), posthumously awarded the O.J. Snyder Memorial Medal, was a visionary leader whose steadfast commitment and strategic foresight shaped a transformative era for PCOM. The award is the College’s highest honor, and is given in recognition of leadership and service to the osteopathic profession and to the institution.

During his distinguished tenure on PCOM’s Board of Trustees, including more than a decade as chairman, one of Mr. McGloin’s most notable achievements was championing the establishment of PCOM Georgia in 2005, expanding the College’s footprint and reinforcing its mission to advance healthcare education beyond Philadelphia. His commitment to PCOM’s future was unwavering, and his strategic leadership helped ensure the institution's continued success.

Mr. McGloin’s professional career spanned more than three decades in the banking industry, where he held numerous executive leadership positions. His civic engagements extended beyond PCOM, as evidenced by his work with the Foundation for Architecture and the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. His legacy is defined by his exceptional leadership, integrity, and devotion to PCOM, education and compassionate healthcare. Learn more about Mr. McGloin.

The O.J. Snyder Memorial Medal is presented in memory of the co-founder of PCOM, and recognizes leadership and service to the osteopathic profession and to the institution.

PCOM Alumni Association Certificate of Honor Recipient

Also receiving honors at this year’s Founders’ Day celebration is Paul Lapoint, DO ’90, who will be awarded the PCOM Alumni Association Certificate of Honor. This award recognizes distinguished services rendered and loyal devotion to PCOM. It is the highest honor bestowed by the PCOM Alumni Association. Learn more about Dr. Lapoint.

About Founders' Day

Founders’ Day celebrates the founding of PCOM in 1899 by Drs. O.J. Snyder and Mason W. Pressly, who sought to bring the osteopathic philosophy of whole-person health care to Philadelphia. The ceremony on January 24 will celebrate the accomplishments of the 2025 Founders’ Day award recipients, who exemplify the dedication, loyalty, and service to the College that our founders exhibited.
