PCOM Georgia Rallies for Breast Cancer Awareness Paint Gwinnett Pink 5K
November 11, 2024
Last month, PCOM Georgia joined the 9th annual Paint Gwinnett Pink 5K, hosted by Northside Hospital at Coolray
Field.
To commemorate PCOM’s 125th anniversary, the College set a goal of enlisting 125 participants and exceeded it, with over
130 team members joining the race.
“Seeing such a strong turnout from PCOM Georgia for this cause is truly meaningful,”
shared Kim Lucier, director of campus operations. “It’s a powerful reminder of our
commitment to health and community.”
PCOM Georgia students also provided hands-on activities like decorating stethoscopes,
touring the simbulance, and providing diabetes education and blood pressure screenings.
“Participating in Paint Gwinnett Pink allows us to connect with the community in meaningful
ways,” noted Lucier. “We’re proud to help raise awareness and provide valuable health
education.”
Paint Gwinnett Pink is one of over 50 community outreach opportunities organized by
Lucier’s office this academic year, each event designed to offer students valuable
volunteer experiences. These efforts allow students to apply their skills, gain real-world
knowledge, and make a meaningful impact in their field. “This event has become a cherished
tradition at PCOM Georgia, bringing our campus community together in support of wellness and service,” Lucier remarked.
Lucier highlighted how these initiatives also serve as an opportunity to showcase
PCOM Georgia as the only medical school in Gwinnett County.
“These events provide a unique opportunity to showcase PCOM Georgia and highlight our programs. They also allow us to connect with community partners, form new relationships, and
create valuable opportunities for our students,” she added.
With each year, Paint Gwinnett Pink continues to grow, providing PCOM Georgia a vital
opportunity to support breast cancer awareness and reinforce its commitment to community
health in Gwinnett County.
