DiCecco Named Interim Chair Department of Physical Therapy at PCOM Georgia
November 8, 2024
Shelley DiCecco, PT, PhD, has been appointed interim chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at PCOM Georgia, where she will lead the department in enhancing patient-centered
education and innovative clinical research. DiCecco, an associate professor in the
department, brings nearly three decades of physical therapy experience to her new
role.
“As interim chair, Dr. DiCecco’s leadership will be invaluable,” said Gregory McDonald, DO ’89, dean of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine’s School of Health Sciences. “Dr. DiCecco’s commitment to teaching, scholarship, and advancing patient care will
serve students and fellow faculty well in this important position.”
Since joining PCOM Georgia in 2019, DiCecco has contributed significantly to the physical
therapy program, particularly through her research. A certified lymphedema therapist
and pelvic health specialist, she has gained recognition for her contributions to
both areas, including innovative treatments and enhanced anatomy and pathophysiology knowledge. In her new role, DiCecco will
support faculty, students, and staff with a vision for expanding research and clinical
training opportunities. She mentors students in lymphedema research across physical therapy, osteopathic medicine, and biomedical sciences.
“I want to enhance the Department of Physical Therapy at PCOM Georgia for the students,
faculty, and the community,” she said. “I look forward to working more closely with
other departments and possibly increasing ways academic programs could interact, not
just in and around Atlanta but also across all of PCOM’s three campuses.”
