Forensic medicine student Emily Debaecke (MS/FM) discusses why she chose PCOM's MS in Forensic Medicine program for her graduate education and how it is preparing her to enter the field of forensics.

Debaecke shares how PCOM's forensic medicine program offers an intriguing mix between forensics and medicine. The comprehensive curriculum covers a variety of subjects. Specialists and guest lecturers are often brought into classroom sessions to present on specific topics. The degree program also utilizes a progressive learning model that continuously weaves together the disciplines of biology, pathology and forensics.

“We're continuously building on what we learn, and we're constantly referencing what we learned in previous lectures, especially the biology aspect, to learn about the forensic side,” Debaecke shares.

Furthermore, the program routinely employs experiential exercises such as mock crime scene investigations and simulated clandestine grave digs. These hands-on learning events allow PCOM forensic medicine students to gain valuable experiences in future career opportunities.
