May 1, 2015Induction of the Epsilon Delta Chapter of the Rho Chi Society
The Epsilon Delta Chapter of the Rho Chi Society, the academic pharmacy honor society,
was installed in May and 43 students were inducted into membership. The induction
address was delivered by Dr. Paul W. Jungnickel, national president of Rho Chi Society.
New officers were installed including Joylaina Speaks, president; Brittany Harshman,
vice president; Michelle Wang, secretary; Hana Paek, treasurer; and Andrea Douglas,
historian. Additionally, 16 students of the Class of 2015 were honored at a graduation
luncheon where they received their cords.
Yanchick Delivers Keynote Address
Victor A. Yanchick, PhD, Dean Emeritus and Senior Executive Director of the Center
for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Care at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU),
delivered the keynote address at the May 29, 2015, commencement ceremony for the second
graduating class of the PCOM School of Pharmacy.
Sara (Mandy) Wilson Reece, PharmD Named to Committee
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal named Sara (Mandy) Wilson Reece, PharmD, to his Commission
on Medical Cannabis, a new committee that will help set Georgia’s policies on medical
marijuana. Dr. Reece is Assistant Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Pharmacy
Practice at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) School of Pharmacy,
located in Suwanee, Georgia.
Generation Rx Club
Members of the Generation Rx Club of the GAPCOM chapter of the American Pharmacists
Association visited Riverside Elementary School to raise awareness about the pharmacy
profession and to educate third grade students about the difference between medicine
and candy.
