PHILLIP PEARSON, PHD
Professor of Anatomy
Dr. Pearson received his bachelor's degree from Tulane University, a master's degree
from the University of Georgia, and a doctoral degree in Anatomy and Neuroscience
from the University of Tennessee-Memphis. Dr Pearson's doctoral dissertation examined
the neural mechanisms of phantom limb sensation and its changes after traumatic body
injury. Dr. Pearson currently has several neurology research projects examining the
olfactory cortex. He is also involved in educational research examining the use of
question and answer computer modules to increase exam scores as well as long term
knowledge retention in medical school.
Dr. Pearson has taught for over 15 years in cadaver-based gross anatomy as well as
embryology at numerous international medical schools. He also uses extensive imaging
techniques and how to analyze them in his classes as imaging is such an important
part of medicine.
Dr. Pearson recently joined PCOM and will continue teaching anatomy, embryology and
histology. He is joined by his wife and 2 sons.
