MICHAEL PARKERSON

Chief Government and External Relations Officer
Michael Parkerson brings nearly 20 years of experience in state government and higher
education and currently serves as Chief Government and External Relations Officer
at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His extensive background includes
roles such as Vice President for Government and Community Affairs at Georgia State
University, Associate Vice President for Government Relations at Kennesaw State University,
and Budget and Policy Analyst for the Georgia House of Representatives Budget and
Research Office, giving him a deep understanding of government operations and public-sector
administration.
Throughout his career, he has led in various government positions, including Deputy
Director of Operations for the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, Fiscal Services
Director and Legislative Liaison for the Prosecuting Attorneys Council of Georgia,
and Homeland Security Director for the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
A dedicated advocate for higher education, Parkerson has actively served on the Board
of Trustees for Middle Georgia State University and as President of the Middle Georgia
College Alumni Association. He holds an associates degree in Business Management from
Middle Georgia College and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University
of Georgia.
Parkerson is equally committed to community involvement. He currently serves on the
Morningside Lenox Park Association, Morningside Community Foundation, and as the Pack
17 Cub Scouts Treasurer. He is also an active member of Passion City Church. Michael
and his wife, Lauren, are proud parents of two sons, Grant and Rhett.
