The academic calendar provides the start and end of classes for PCOM's academic terms,
along with breaks and other important dates. Academic year calendars are provided
as guides and are subject to change.
This calendar shows the start dates for each term in the academic year and does not
annotate a specific program’s start date. For specific information regarding a program's
start date, new students should visit the "Getting Started" section of myPCOM. Academic terms apply only to the coursework or non-clinical component of degree
programs. Clinical rotation schedules, clinical preceptorships and experiential learning
schedules are provided by the applicable academic department or school.
Important Note About the AY25-26 Academic Calendar Transition
PCOM is transitioning to a trimester academic calendar beginning in Summer 2025. Currently,
PCOM operates on a four-term academic calendar—Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring—with
each term offering 10 to 13 weeks of instructional time.
Starting in Summer 2025, the academic calendar will shift to three terms—Summer, Fall,
and Spring—with each term providing 16 weeks of instructional time.
Why are we doing this?
The academic calendar has been updated to comply with new U.S. Department of Education
requirements and to better align with the schedules of most other higher education
institutions. These changes allow for more instructional time and ensure compliance
with evolving federal regulations.
When do classes start?
Start dates vary by program and whether you are a new or continuing student.
Most continuing students will begin in Summer 2025, around late May or early June.
Many new students will begin in Fall 2025 (late August or early September), although
some will start in Summer.
If you're unsure when your program begins, contact your program director.
Clinical and rotation-based programs often follow different academic calendars.
Bookmark your academic calendar and note key dates such as breaks and exam periods.
