2011 Philly Cares Day
Several PCOM students, faculty, and staff participated in the 2011 Philly Cares Day sponsored by Greater Philadelphia Cares on October 22, 2011. Through this project, our volunteers directly made an impact on the schools, nonprofits organizations, and the neighborhoods that help inspire students/community members to grow. The 2011 Philly Cares Day helped 65 schools total in the School District of Philadelphia, Norristown School District, and Chester County. These 65 schools were also joined by 10 nonprofit organizations and 15 Neighbors in Action sites. There was an overwhelming impact on our community and we are proud of PCOM's contribution.
CAPS and the Psychology Society at PCOM coordinated a donation drive for Philadelphia's Treats for Troops. This organization was formed to support United States Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Everything donated was used to box and ship the goods to the Troops overseas. Visit www.philatreatsfortroops.com for further details about this program.
In addition, CAPS and the Psychology Society organize several canned food drives and clothing drives throughout the year.
