Credits and Waivers - Joint DO/PhD Program
  
Credits and Waivers: 

1.  Students will complete an 8-week course comprised of two 4-week laboratory rotations in the summer following the first year of medical study (Year 1).

 

2.  In Year 3, DO/PhD students will register for 12 credits of didactic courses at USciences.  These courses will be taught by USciences faculty on the USciences campus.  PCOM will directly pay USciences the tuition for these credits.

 

3.  In Year 4, DO/PhD students will register for 6 credits of didactic courses at USciences.  These courses will be taught by USciences faculty on the USciences campus.  PCOM will directly pay USciences the tuition for these credits.

 

4.  Students in the Joint DO/PhD Program must complete a minimum of 6 credits of elective didactic courses at the 800 level.  The following two options are available for DO/PhD students to complete this requirement:

 

  1. Students can register for and take these courses on the USciences campus.  PCOM will directly pay USciences the tuition for these credits.
  2. Students can take appropriate courses at PCOM that would be acceptable for transfer to USciences.  The acceptability of courses for transfer to USciences in fulfillment of PhD requirements will be determined by the students’ USciences Program Director and approved by the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies.  The student must earn a course grade of B- or higher to be eligible for transfer.  USciences College of Graduate Studies policy limits transfer credit to a maximum of 12 credits of didactic courses.  The grade earned in the transferred course(s) is not used in the computation of the USciences cumulative grade point average.

5.  Each DO/PhD student completes a research project under the supervision of either a USciences or PCOM faculty
     member.

                each student must register for a minimum of 20 research credits at USciences for completion of the dissertation.
